Shootings
There were conflicting reports about how many people were shot for looting. The police force was getting order to do so.[5][6][7][8][9] Blackwater mercenaries were sent in the disaster zone,[10][11][12] and a detachment of 300 National Guard troops with the authorisation to shoot and kill "hoodlums".[13][14] By some accounts deadly force targeted primarily people of color searching for food.[15][16][17][18] Official investigations later said that almost no one was killed by any shooting.
Outcome
Increased gentrification of some parts of New Orleans.[19][20]
