The City of London Police is the UK police force in charge of the City of London. It should not be confused with the Metropolitan Police Service, a separate organisation polices all of London except for the "square mile".
Leadership
The group is lead by the City of London Police Commissioner, typically a senior UK policeman. Unlike other territorial forces in England and Wales there is no commissioner to replace that police authority by way of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011.[citation needed]
Exploitation by Kroll
Exaro news revealed that Kroll Inc. had used the City of London Police to launch what one MP later called in parliament a £1 million "taxpayer-funded crusade" against London businessman Ian Puddick. Eventually all charges were dropped. When asked for comment, a City of London Police spokesperson initially stated that unless a formal complaint was made, they would not make a comment. Later they reversed this position, but stated that the enquiry made was being treated as a formal complaint, so they could not comment.[1]
