After police Lt. John Pike used pepper spray on the eyes of students at the University of California Davis, the University of California Regents were ordered to pay $1,000,000 to the 21 victims of the attack, plus compensation for Lt. Pike's "psychiatric injury". He had been on paid leave for the duration of the 8 month enquiry.[1]
