William Douglas Pawley was a U.S. ambassador and businessman.

Career

Pawley contacted Ted Shackley, head of the CIA's JM WAVE station in Miami. Shackley decided to help Pawley organize what became known as Operation Tilt.

Death

Pawley died from a gunshot to the head, possibly due to the HSCA hearings.
