Insys Therapeutics is a manufacturer of pharmaceuticals, most notably Subsys, a sublingual fentanyl spray which has been linked to the increase in opioid-related deaths in the USA.

Activities

In 2017, the company donated $500,000 to try to defeat a ballot initiative that would make recreational use of marijuana legal under Arizona law.[1]

Arrest

John Kapoor, the founder of Insys, was arrested in October 2017, charged with racketeering and fraud in connection with "a nationwide scheme to push an extremely potent opioid drug containing fentanyl onto patients."[2]
