Allegations
In October 2017, The New York Times and The New Yorker reported that more than a dozen women had accused Weinstein of sexual harassment, assault or rape. This began a flood of similar charges, his wife left him, Weinstein was sacked and honours were stripped from him.
Purposes
In his article A man hears what he wants to hear for the Canadian Free Press, Brooklyn Lowe suggests that "Everyone knew for years, both inside and outside Hollywood, that Harvey Weinstein was/is a suspected rapist; just as everyone knows that Bill Clinton was/is a suspected rapist" and suggests that the allegations may have been timed as a distraction from difficult to explain circumstances of the 2017 Las Vegas shooting.[1]
