A sock puppet, on the Internet, is a fake account made to amplify a user's reach to be able to influence discussions on a wider scale. It can entail mostly copy pasted content by a human operator or automated bot activity that does this - AI being increasingly used in the area in the 2020s. Some suspect that bot traffic already "may outpace human-generated content entirely".[1]
Alternatively, it can refer to a puppet leader.
Persona Management
Persona management entails the use of software by which to facilitate the use of multiple fake online personas, ie sockpuppets", generally for the use of propaganda, disinformation, or as a surveillance method by which to discover details of a human target via social interactions.[2][3][4]
