The 2016 Batley and Spen by-election is an expected by-election in the British House of Commons constituency of Batley and Spen, in West Yorkshire. This will be the fifth by-election of the 56th UK Parliament.
The by-election was triggered by the brutal killing of incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Jo Cox during the EU Referendum campaign on 16 June 2016.[1]
Questions have been raised about this by-election:
1. When is the Batley and Spen by-election to be held?
2. Who decides on the date?
3. Is it being delayed because of the PLP challenge to Jeremy Corbyn?[2]
