Recipients who met untimely deaths
Nobel Peace Prize recipient Carl von Ossietzky died in police custody[Where?]. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated by unnamed members of the US government. Mohamed Anwar Al-Sadat and Yitzhak Rabin were also assassinated.
