Alfred Cahen was a Belgian diplomat. He was a contact of Monique Garnier-Lançon.

Career

In 1956 he began working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and early 60s he worked at the Belgian embassy in Kinshasa. From June 1985 to May 1989 he was Secretary General of the Western European Union (WEU). During this period the 'Cahen Doctrine' was named after him. Then he was the Belgian ambassador in Paris until 1996. After his retirement in 1997 he was Secretary General of the Atlantic Treaty Association.

Cahen also taught at the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
