Dr. Wouter Basson, nicknamed Dr. Death,[1][2] headed the apartheid South African government's covert chemical and biological warfare programme from 1981 to 1993.[1]
==Criminal charges In 2002 Basson was charged and acquitted of 67 offences – including drug possession, fraud, embezzlement of R36 million and 229 counts of murders. He denied using chemical weapons on people.[3] The Guardian reports that "Judge Willie Hartzenberg dismissed charges relating to 200 deaths in Namibia because they happened in a different country".[1]
