Date1982 - Present

The Yinon Plan is an Israeli strategic plan to Balkanize the Middle East into mini-states along sectarian and ethnic lines.

The plan has similarities to a draft presented by US Lieutenant-Colonel Ralph Peters, published in the Armed Forces Journal in June 2006.[1]

The name is a reference to an article published by Oded Yinon in February 1982 in the Hebrew journal Kivunim ("Directions") entitled A Strategy for Israel in the 1980s.[2] Yinon was a former advisor to Ariel Sharon,[3] a former senior official with the Israeli Foreign Ministry[4][5][6][7] and journalist for The Jerusalem Post.[8]
