Books according to specifications
The deputy director of USIA, Reid Harris, explained that his agency had anti-communist books written according to its specifications, and that it controls every aspect of the books, from their conception to the final edited manuscript. One of Reid's assistants added "We try to obtain the assistance of renowned writers in the literally world. We ask them to write books for us. Their stature gives the book greater credibility".[1]
