The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Northern Ireland is a role at the Northern Ireland Office of the Government of the United Kingdom.[1] The role was also known as Under-Secretary of State, Northern Ireland. The Parliamentary Under Secretary reports to the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.
Overview
The position was created on 26 March 1972. The position was not in use 28. June 2007-11. May 2015, and 13. February 2020-5. November 2021.
According to the UK government, the "The Northern Ireland Office is responsible for overseeing the Northern Ireland devolution settlement and representing Northern Ireland interests at UK government level and UK government interests in Northern Ireland."[2]
