What is scribunto?

On 11 December 2013, User:Robin introduced this edit: "Person template - but it needs Scribunto". Since when, Nelson Mandela's photo has disappeared and the article looks forlorn. What can be done - with or without scribunto - to rectify the situation?--Patrick Haseldine (talk) 21:47, 12 January 2014 (GMT)

Scribunto is an add-on that would help with Wikipedia compatibility, not currently installed here. That aside, to add the picture, the easiest thing is to click on the link on the right and upload one. Robin (talk) 03:46, 13 January 2014 (GMT)
Thanks, Robin. I've uploaded the picture as suggested but it comes without a caption and the page width is correspondingly reduced. Something to do with the "person template"?--Patrick Haseldine (talk) 10:09, 13 January 2014 (GMT)
Patrick, you'll have to find a different image. I've had extended email correspondence with 'Alamy' an agency claiming copyright over that image, including an invoice and threats. They have now even sent an invoice to the Wikimedia Foundation over it. I've told them to bugger off and I'll see them in a Dublin court if they want to take the matter further, but that was on the basis that we had stopped displaying the image. I've removed it. It is also a simple matter to caption, resize and place an image on the right by using syntax [[File:filename.xxx|thumb|350px|caption text]] below the person template. Hopefully we'll get Scribunto working on the new server which will be commissioned later this week --Peter P (talk) 13:06, 13 January 2014 (GMT)
