Royd Barker served as head of MI5/A Branch in the mid-1980s.[1] In July 1990, Barker was part of a 'Cabinet Office inquiry team' along with John Muir, established in an attempt to discover who leaked confidential minutes from a Prime Ministerial meeting on German reunification to The Independent on Sunday.[2] He was Deputy Director General of MI5 from 1981 to 1983.[3]
