People Before Profit (PBP) describes itself as "Ireland's largest Ecosocialist organisation - Building People Power across all 32 counties"[1] and was formed as an alliance with Solidarity also known as the "Anti-Austerity Alliance" (AAA) until 2017.[2]
Merger?
In March 2021, on the question of a merger between People Before Profit and Solidarity, PBP's Richard Boyd Barrett said that while there are a lot of similarities between the two, they differ on the question of a border poll:
“There’s a lot of common ground, but they do differ with us on the question of a border poll,” said Boyd Barrett, saying that People Before Profit wanted to see the island of Ireland united for a different type of Ireland.[3]
Protest for Palestine
On 14 May 2021, PBP tweeted:
People are protesting all over Ireland tomorrow in solidarity with Palestine. Here are some of them. Please support if you can! #FreePalestine[4]
