Nitter [1] is a website front-end to browse Twitter, focusing on privacy.[2][3] It is meant to be installed on a server which in turn gives Internet users access to Twitter anonymously.
When Musk took over, shortly after he started to restrict API access, in connection with charges for volume of requests.[4] This lead to the closing of most Nitter instances in 2024.[5] The one instance that keeps working into 2025 is xcancel.com.[6]
