Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland and one of its 32 council areas[1]. The city is located in on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth. Edinburgh is Scotland's second-most populous city and the seventh-most populous city in the United Kingdom.
Edinburgh's official population estimates are 488,050 (mid-2016) for the Edinburgh locality and 1,339,380 (2014) for the wider city region.[2]
