The Deputy Inspector General of the Department of State is the deputy to the head the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of State and is responsible for detecting and investigating waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in the United States Department of State. [1][2]

Anthony Quainton was deputy IG 1987 - 89, before becoming Ambassador.[3]Wesley Egan was deputy IG 1998-2000[4]. Anne W. Patterson was deputy IG from 2003-2004.[5]. Harold Geisel later became inspector general throughout Hillary Clinton's four years at the head of the department.
