More Standardisation, Unique Icons Needed

There's always a tradeoff between having more of these (= can be more precise) and having less (easy to choose which one to add, easy to read). I'm trying to standardise these and I think the one we have are too similar and overlap each other a lot.

They work well when they quickly convey information to readers (which we hope will be repeat readers/editors) - so alongside the simple text (which we may want to include links, e.g. to the WP problem pages) they need a unique icon so that experienced readers can just soak in the information without needing to read the text. So, I think we should aim for unique icons, which will help us (editors) as well as our readers distinguish these categories.

Agreed on all counts Robin. As always it's a question of priorities. Personally I struggle to retain discipline and focus on these infrastructure matters when there is so much news and historical research information demanding my attention every day. However I've yet to see a suggestion or modification from you which has not enhanced the project, so please continue. It's much appreciated. I'll chip in as and when something grabs me.
