Erik Sixten Axelsson Leijonhufvud was a Swedish baron and banker employed by the Wallenbergs.[1][2] He attended the 1962 Bilderberg conference.

He was born in Stockholm on 7 July, 1931 of father Axel Axelsson Leijonhufvud and Margareta Lewenhaupt.

Career

He studied law at Uppsala University and graduated in 1932. He worked in various courts, including as a legal advisor in Ethiopia 1945-48.

[Liberian American Swedish Mining Company

Leijonhufvud he was Director of Liberian American Swedish Mining Company (Lamco). Lamco Joint Venture (LJV) was formed in 1957 and was owned 75% by the Liberian Americo-Swedish Minerals Co, Lamco, and 25% by the American Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Lamco was in turn owned half each by the Liberian government and Liberia Ore Ltd. The latter company was mostly owned by the Swedish Lamco syndicate and to a lesser extent by American investors.

In the Swedish Lamco Syndicate, Grängesbergsbolaget had a majority ownership and Sentab was otherwise included within Skånska Cementgjuteriet (Skanska) and companies within the Wallenberg sphere. Lamco had a concession until 2023 to mine 225 million tons of ore from a demarcated ore deposit near the border with Guinea. A total of USD 250 million was invested in the project. It was thus the largest developing country investment project for which a Swedish company was responsible. Production at the mine began in 1963. The company built a 27-mile railway between the mine and the coastal town of Buchanan, where an ore loading port was also built and a ball sinter plant, which opened in 1968. During the investment phase, 11,600 people were employed.

Other

He was leader of the Swedish Tennis association 1953-61.
