On 25 October 2021, the Sudanese military led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan took control of the government in a military coup. At least five senior government figures were initially detained and Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok was detained and is being held in an unknown location. World leaders and international organisations have condemned the coup.[1] There have been large protests in the country since.[2] The United States froze 700 million dollars worth of aid deliveries until the government is restored.[3]
