This is a particularly egregious example of the insidious Official Narrative-supporting nature of Wikipedia. Anyone visiting will immediately be drawn to the photograph and its accompanying caption information. For most visitors, this defines their first impression, which for many may be all they read. The impression given is that Khadr is a 24 year old, convicted war criminal and terrorist, and alleged al-Qaeda member. Whilst much of the background to this summary is covered in the rest of what is a detailed article, most people's over-riding impression does not address such matters as:
  • His being 15 years old when his alleged 'Offences' took place
  • His abominable torture and mistreatment over 8 years of mostly solitary confinement
  • The 'plea-bargain' agreement that offered him freedom in a few years if he pleaded guilty; or incarceration for life if he did not
  • The nature of the so-called 'legal process' that prosecuted the alleged offences
  • The underlying assumption that US soldiers can legally go abroad and ambush Khadr's uncle and others, but that returning fire was illegal
