Record of Parliamentary Actions

  • As he stated in a parliamentary question session, Derek Roland Clark claims that "health food supplements have been in use in the UK for many years with no claim as to adverse effects," questioning why there should be en EC ruling on the subject.[3]
  • On the legislation granting temporary workers equal rights in terms of working hours, salary and holidays, ending a six-year legislative battle, Derek Clark argued that the legislation would "not help in these times of rising unemployment," because paying inexperienced temporary workers the same as better-skilled staff would discourage worker loyalty.[4]
  • Referring to the Manhattan declaration released by 500 scientists, he believes that "there is no convincing evidence that CO2 from modern industry is causing climate change."[5]
  • He defines it as "madness...in a world shortage of cereals" to "turn over farmland to produce bio fuels when populations are increasing."[6]
  • He asked the Commission to reconsider the proposal to end the duty on red diesel, claiming that it will have a "severe knock-on effect for the British marine industry."[7]
  • In one written question he directly asked the Commission to "support large multiple UK pharmacies, such as Lloydspharmacy in calling for a shelving of this planned reorganisation and an open dialogue with Pfizer to achieve the best possible service for their patients?"[8]
