Overview
The Syrian Civil Defense (in Arabic: الدفاع المدني), is a humanitarian organization for civil protection. It provides various emergency services within the Syrian Arab Republic. Created in 1953, its objective is to assist and help the population during disasters of natural or technological origin.[1] Syria was accredited with the ICDO on the 12. September 1972.[2][3]
On December 29, 2017, the Civil Defense participated in the search operations for civilian and military victims murdered by Daesh and buried in two mass graves, near the town of Wawi, in the west of the province of Raqqa. These were discovered thanks to information provided by the local population.[4]
Website
The very close website name "Syria Civil Defence" has been grabbed by the imposter "White Helmets", claiming to be "Neutral. Impartial. For ALL Syrians."[5]
