Daughter of beleaguered (and celebrated) journalist Richard Gutjahr, who as well as her father, apparently independently, was positioned to shoot a video of people fleeing the 2016 Munich Shooting |
Thamina Stoll took around 30 seconds of footage of people fleeing from the shopping center, reportedly from hew Grandmother's balcony. She posted this online and was later interviewed by commercially-controlled media worldwide.
Background
Thamina Stoll grew up in Germany and attended the Städtisches Willi-Graf Gymnasium. Like her father, Richard Gutjahr, she attended Munich's Ludwig-Maximilian University. In August 2014 she attended Duke University as a Visiting International Student for a year but transferred to Duke.[1]
2016 Munich shooting
Thamina was in Munich at the time of the 2016 shooting, and like her father, she took video of the event and posted it online. She later tweeted that anyone was free to use the footage she posted.[2] She did not mention her father in the interviews she gave online, but mentioned her dad "happened to record video footage" in Nice in an interview she gave about the attacks to the Duke Chronicle later in July.[3]
