Stephen King: crowned the "King of Horror"

Stephen Edwin King is an American author.

Widely known for his horror novels, Stephen King has been crowned the "King of Horror". He has also explored other genres, among them suspense, crime, science-fiction, fantasy and mystery.

Known primarily for his novels, King has written approximately 200 short stories, most of which have been published in collections.[1]

Covid

During Covid, King strongly supported the deep state policy that "unvaccinated" people should be fired from their jobs[2] and unpersoned by their government.[3]

In 2023, King published Holly. The novel is set in 2021, in the thick of the "Covid pandemic" and addresses the country's pandemic policies directly. King writes: "A considerable portion of the American population — not a majority, I'm relieved to say — are anti-vaccination" — but those people, he says, will probably find his heroine's Covid takes "preachy". After her own unvaccinated, Covid denying[4], Trump-supporting mother dies of the virus, the eponymous protagonist, Holly Gibney, spends a good portion of 450 pages obsessively masking, inquiring after other people's vaccination status, and bemoaning the selfishness of the unwashed, unvaxxed Right-wingers without whom the virus would surely have been tamed by now. Later in the story, King explains that a character named Uncle Henry saved his life by getting "the vaccine", getting a booster, and then another booster.[5]

A note from King himself, at the end of the book, stating that the novel's politics are also his own.[6]
