The Jewish Defense League (JDL) is a Jewish religious-political organization, whose stated goal is to"protect Jews from antisemitism by whatever means necessary". [1] It was classified as "a right wing terrorist group" by the FBI in 2001. [1] According to the FBI, the JDL has been involved in plotting and executing acts of terrorism within the United States.[1]
Extortion
According to a release of documents by the FBI in 2011, the JDL tried to extort Tupac Shakur and Eazy-E.[2][3][4] People of the organization issued death threats against the rappers and then sent intermediaries to demand protection payments.[5] An offer would have been made to protect the victim and family, bring them to a save haven and then “convince the victim they have worked a ‘deal’ out... and the threats cease. The victim then pays the subjects for the protection services rendered.”[6]
