Phythian is the author or editor of some eighteen books on intelligence and security topics as well as numerous academic articles and book chapters. He is co-editor of the journal Intelligence and National Security and one of the editors of the Georgetown Studies in the History of Intelligence book series.[2]
He has written on both the illicit and legal arms trades.[1]
