Japanese public research university located in to the north of Tokyo.

The University of Tsukuba is a public research university located in Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan.

Tsukuba is one of the leading research institutions in Japan. According to Thomson Reuters, Tsukuba is the 10th best research institutions among all the universities and non-educational research institutions in Japan.[1]

The university was established in October 1973. At that time, Japanese universities were still influenced by Marxist professors and students. Tokyo Normal University, the predecessor of Tsukuba University, also had that "problem", so the Ministry of Education changed it to a "new" university by relocating to Tsukuba.[2]
