Wikispooks:To Do
To start editing the site, the first thing you need to do is to login. This page is for if you've done this but are still wondering how to get started in editing the site...
How to edit?
Style Guide
If you've never edited an encyclopedia before, you may be unsure how to start. The main approach, as with any writing, is to keep the reader in mind and focus on how you can clearly explain the subject you're writing about. For more information, see the style guide.
Technical Help
Maybe you've got plenty of ideas and knowledge to contribute to the site, but technical aspects are holding you back. If this describes you, try this guide from Wikipedia, which uses the same software as Wikispooks. If you are worried about about messing anything up, you can practice editing in the WikiSpooks:Sandbox.
Where to edit?
Recent Changes
One of the best ways to encourage your fellow Wikispooks editors is to improve the pages they are working on -- even if it's something as simple as fixing a typo in one of the recent contributions. The Recent changes link on the left will show you the most recently worked on pages.
Wikipedia+ Pages
Wikipedia+ is a software tool to aid Wikipedia users by notifying them when it finds a Wikispooks page to complement the Wikipedia page they're reading. These pages are gateway pages which summarise the problems of the Wikipedia page, offer links to less problematic takes and describe the Wikispooks page (if any). See the Wikipedia+ menu on the left for more details.
Your User Page
Every Wikispooks user has a page assigned for them on which they can write as much (or as little) as they like about themselves - or anything else. Writing more about yourself or uploading a photo could be a good start in getting to know other users.
Untidy Pages
If would like to help tidy up, whether you're a re-organiser or a proof reader, see the list of untidy pages - pages which have good information on them, but for one reason or another do not present it well.
Problem Pages
Some pages have more serious problems. See the list of problem pages for pages which have serious problems of bias, gaps, clarity etc.
Stubs
Wikispooks has a list of pages which are 'stubs' - i.e. little more than a title and a link or two - and so could really benefit from even a few minutes of work.
Priority Pages
Wikispooks has a list of priority pages - pages which relate to deep politics. Contributions on these pages are particularly welcome.
Broken Links
Browsing the site you'll sometimes see a link in red, which is a warning that it links to a page which hasn't been made yet. For example, there's nothing here yet about Google. To start a page like this, first click the link and then click on 'Create page'. A fast way to find broken links is to see this list of wanted pages.
Your Own Topic
It's easy to start a new page - you just need to choose a title. Any page where you have opinions which are politically unwelcome on Wikipedia is likely to be a good topic, especially if you have specialist knowledge. Be bold! Choose a title for the page and then enter it in to the URL (or make a link to it and then follow the link). As above, then click on 'Create page'.
Uploading Images
Most of the pages on Wikispooks have no images. Uploading images is pretty straightforward, and is a good way to increase the clarity and appeal of articles.
