The Squad is the informal name for a group of four women elected in the 2018 United States House of Representatives elections, made up of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan.

The Squad are women of colour under 50, have been supported by the Justice Democrats, and are on the left wing of the US Democratic Party.[1]

All four Congresswomen were on track for double-digit victories on Tuesday, 3 November 2020, cementing their place in Washington for at least another two years.

Pressing Joe Biden to turn left

Five other Democratic House candidates endorsed by Justice Democrats, the progressive group that helped sweep The Squad into office in 2018, were on the ballot on 3 November 2020. Two — Jamaal Bowman in New York’s 16th congressional district and Cori Bush in Missouri’s 1st congressional district — have already won their races. A third, Marie Newman in Illinois’ 3rd congressional district, is heavily favoured to win hers.

“The Squad is continuing to grow and it will hold the next administration accountable to a bold governing agenda,” said Alexandra Rojas, executive director of Justice Democrats. That goes for either a Biden administration or a Trump administration.
“The Congress Joe Biden could likely be inheriting is far more progressive than the one Barack Obama inherited in 2009 and can help make the Biden administration the most progressive administration in generations,” Ms Rosas said.[2]

Leaning on Biden

Dave Rubin of The Rubin Report talks about Joe Biden continuing to push the “Trump is a racist” narrative, and Bernie Sanders, AOC and the rest of the squad’s plans to push the Biden administration to the far left. First Dave revisits a tweet from Joe Biden saying “Donald Trump is the most racist president in modern history”. No matter how many times Donald Trump has denounced White Supremacy it seems to never be enough for Biden or the media. Next Dave discusses a zoom call that Bernie Sanders had with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and Ayanna Pressley where he discussed the pressure that they will put on the Biden administration to have progressive far left policies. Specifically Bernie said they need to force Biden to be “the most progressive president since FDR”.[3]
