The Runnymede Trust is a race equality[1] think tank founded in 1968 by Jim Rose and Anthony Lester,[2] with aim of acting as an independent source for promoting a multi-ethnic Britain through research, network building, leading debate and policy engagement.[3]
The Director of the Runnymede Trust is Dr Omar Khan and its Chairman is Clive Jones CBE.[4]
Islamophobia
Two decades since the Runnymede Trust was first credited with coining the term 'Islamophobia' in its flagship 1997 report,[5] this anniversary report (released November 2017) looks at how the phenomenon has evolved over the past 20 years, and how it manifests itself today. The report brings together varied perspectives from leading thinkers on inequality and Muslims in Britain, unpacking issues such as integration, hate crime, gender, identity and, of course, racism.
The views expressed in each essay are those of the named authors and do not necessarily represent Runnymede's organisational position.[6]
