Mass production is the use of machines to produce large amounts of standardised products.
"Overproduction"
At the close of the 19th century, US business magnates were concerned about "overproduction" - that markets would get satiated because they were so efficiently met by mass produced goods. Advertising and the consumer society saw off this concern.
