Reprieve is a not-for-profit organisation which works against the death penalty, with a particular focus on legal support for those on death row or held in secret prisons around the world.
The Reprieve organisation was founded in the UK in 1999, and there are also organisations in the United States, Australia and the Netherlands, with additional supporters and volunteers worldwide.[1]
In May 2016, Reprieve reported that an influential committee of Parliamentarians had called on the British Government to “urgently” clarify its legal position on drone strikes, warning that its policy “may expose Ministers to the risk of criminal prosecution for murder.”[2]
