The New Deal was a series of programs, public work projects, financial reforms, and regulations enacted by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the United States between 1933 and 1939.

After Smedley Butler exposed the business plot, FDR is believed to have reached a secret agreement not to prosecute (or even publicly name) them, in return for their support of his New Deal policies.[1] One exception to this deal might have been Andrew Mellon - at least FDR made sure he was chased by the Internal Revenue Service.
