Electroshock, also known as Electroconvulsive therapy is the deliberate use of electricity on the human brain.

In 2005 the World Health Organization (2005) recommended that ECT should be used only with the informed consent of the patient (or their guardian if their incapacity to consent has been established).
Use in a US school
As of 2018 the Judge Rotenberg Educational Center, a special needs day center was using electroshock to punish disobedience. In 2013 video surfaced of an 18-year-old student receiving dozens of shocks for refusing to take off his jacket. Their right to do this was reaffirmed in 2018.[1]
