A UK organisation set up during WWI to manage censorship and propaganda.

MI7, the British Military Intelligence Section 7 was a department of the British Directorate of Military Intelligence. Part of the War Office, MI7 was set up to work in the fields of propaganda and censorship. In May 1940 it was transferred to Ministry of Information.

War propaganda

The BBC wrote, in 2017 that "In 1917 MI7 employed 13 officers and 25 paid writers, some whom moonlighted as "special correspondents" for national newspapers. One of their most talented agents was Major Hugh Pollard who combined his work in the propaganda department with the role of special correspondent for the Daily Express." [1]
