John Stroncheck blew the whistle on his employer, the DIA in August 2013. He reports that he was fired after refusing to act without legal backing: "All they had to do was give me an email saying, ‘John, you have been directed to do this and you have authority and it’s been cleared’". As is a common experience for whistleblowers in modern day USA, he also reports difficulty finding work. [1]
