David Irvine also known as "Irvinsky", is the 12th Director-General of Security proceeded by Duncan Lewis.
Early Years
David irvine was born in Perth, Western Australia where he attended Hale High school and the University of Western Australia with honors in Elizabethan history and a Bachelor of Arts degree. Prior to his first government position with the department of external affairs, he was a journalist[1].
Diplomatic Career
After joining the Australian Foreign League service in 1970 he was posted to Rome, Jakata, Beijing and Port Moresby. From 1996-1999 he was a high commissioner to Papua New Guinea [2]. During his post to Papua New Guinea, the largest political scandal broke out defined as the "Sandline mercenary affair". At the peak of his diplomatic career, he secured a long term $25 billion liquified gas project contract with Dr Chau Chak [3]. Dr Chau Chak became mysteriously wealthy after joining the Communist Party in China[4].
