Al-Hasakah is the capital city of the al-Hasakah Governorate and it is located in the far Northeastern corner of Syria.[1]
In August 2017, it was reported that a contingent of US Special Forces troops were dropped off in al-Hasakah to spearhead an attack by the Syrian Democratic Forces on the oil-rich region of Deir Ezzor and try to prevent the Syrian Arab Army from regaining military control of that Governorate.[2]
