John Buttifant Sewel, Baron Sewel, CBE (born 15 January 1946) is a British politician, life peer, and former academic. His sudden fall from grace exemplifies the secret poewr of blackmail which is used to control dissent amongst politicians. An unknown number are similarly compromised.

Career

A life peer, John Sewel was Chairman of the Lords privileges and conduct committee and had an annual salary of £84,500 as deputy speaker of the House of Lords.[1] [2]

Exposure

He resigned after his spectacular exposure - a video was released to the commercially-controlled media showing him snorting white powder, apparently cocaine, from the breasts of a prostitute. Police raided his flat but announced that they would not be prosecuting him.[3]
