The Community portal is probably the best place to start for new users. To add a Wikispooks search facility to your browser, go here. If you've got a topic you're itching to write about, just dive in. If you're not sure where to start, you can introduce yourself by editing either this page or your user page. Robin (talk) 07:02, 10 January 2016 (GMT)

:Welcome to Wikispooks David. A few point(er)s:

*Getting started with page creation and editing can indeed be daunting but you have made a good start and the learning curve is not too steep. There will usually be constructive help quickly offered by others too. Simplifying the process with more complete and helpful forms is a priority work-in-progress and specific examples of your difficulties may help in making the process easier for others.

* I noted your use of the mailing list. The message(s) was not broadcast because it appears you did not subscribe. Also note, the list is currently hardly used at all - some promotion of it may be in order but it is not central to the wiki itself. I have now subscribed you to the list.

*The Jewarchy page would probably be best presented as a Document. In that way it is clearly attributable to you personally. Its meta-data can then be edited by others, but its content remains yours and - apart from cosmetics/formatting -  must not be edited by others. Left as it is it can - and probably wlll - be ruthlessly edited by others in Wikipedia fashion. If you're happy with that I'll go ahead and do it.

*If you make sure that the "Real-Time Recent Changes" box in your preferences/gadgets page is checked, you will have access to a simple way of monitoring edits to the wiki accessible from the "RTRC" Tools section of the wiki sidebar. Sidebar/Recent changes is also available but needs to be selected every time you want to chack for changes. There are also various RSS fees available.

Wow, thanks for the tips and for fixing the image and video on my article. You wrote, "The Jewarchy page would probably be best presented as a Document." Yes, could you set that up for me? I'll also look into that Real-Time Recent Changes box you mentioned.

Another question: Where can I find a list of codes I can use in the sidebar? For example, you have to insert certain terms to make it display "Born" or "Formation." But how can Insert headings like "First Used" or "Author"?

I just published my first article @ Jewarchy

The directions seem needlessly confusing to me. Is there a "How to" page that offers clear instructions? All the pages I've checked seem to veer off into space.

Welcome to Wikispooks David. A few point(er)s:
 • Getting started with page creation and editing can indeed be daunting but you have made a good start and the learning curve is not too steep. There will usually be constructive help quickly offered by others too. Simplifying the process with more complete and helpful forms is a priority work-in-progress and specific examples of your difficulties may help in making the process easier for others.
 • I noted your use of the mailing list. The message(s) was not broadcast because it appears you did not subscribe. Also note, the list is currently hardly used at all - some promotion of it may be in order but it is not central to the wiki itself. I have now subscribed you to the list.
 • The Jewarchy page would probably be best presented as a Document.
 • If you make sure that the "Real-Time Recent Changes" box in your preferences/gadgets page is checked, you will have access to a simple way of monitoring edits to the wiki accessible from the "RTRC" Tools section of the wiki sidebar. Sidebar/Recent changes is also available but needs to be selected every time you want to chack for changes. There are also various RSS fees available.
