In 2021 Bortrick was a paid advisor to Mahfouz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfouz. In May 2014 he drafted a letter which claimed that Charles Windsor was "100% behind" a cash for citizenship and CBE case. Ater this was published by The Times in 2021, Michael Fawcett's resigned as Windsor's fixer.[4]
