The Unification Church, also called the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, is a religious movement whose members are known as "Moonies".

It was officially founded on 1 May 1954 by Sun Myung Moon (1920–2012), a Korean Messiah claimant who was known for his business ventures, engagement in social and political causes and owner of The Washington Times.
