Knox Collegeis a private liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois. It was founded in 1837 and offers more than 60 courses of study.
The college was founded in 1837 by social reformers and abolitionists as the Knox Manual Labor College. The college was one of the first in the United States to be open to men, women and all ethnic groups upon its founding. In 1857 the name was changed to Knox College after its location in Knox County.[1] Many of the founders of Knox College and residents of Galesburg were abolitionists and actively supported the Underground Railroad.[2]
