The richest family in the Netherlands

Brenninkmeijer or Brenninkmeyer is the name of an extended Dutch family with German roots. It is the owner of Cofra Holding, which includes the textile trading company C&A, founded by Clemens and August Brenninkmeyer in 1841.

With more than 500 members, the extended family is one of the richest families in Europe with an estimated fortune of more than 25 billion euros. The Brenninkmeijers are considered secretive; public appearances are avoided. All family members have a Dutch passport, everyone professes the Catholic faith.[1]

Michiel R. P. M. Brenninkmeijer was selected a Global Leader for Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum in 1999.
