Yorkshire village and proposed site for illegal immigrant centre

Linton-on-Ouse is a village in North Yorkshire, England. Despite being a small settlement of 700 people, Priti Patel is proposing sending 1,500 illegal migrants there.[1] A migrant centre is to be established in the village, but a final decision is yet to be reached.[2]

The village was home to a RAF station which opened in 1937. With the transfer of pilot training to RAF Valley on Anglesey in 2019, the station closed in 2020. In February 2021, the MOD confirmed that no alternative military use had been identified for the site and that it would therefore be sold. In a change of policy, in April 2022 the government announced its intention to convert the camp into a reception, accommodation and processing centre for asylum seekers.[3]
