A by-election in Wakefield will be held after Conservative Party MP Imran Ahmad Khan was convicted for sexually assaulting a teenage boy.[2]
Candidates
The Wakefield local party executive resigned over the selection process.[3] The Labour Party selected Simon Lightwood, former staffer of the anti-Brexit, anti-Corbyn Mary Creagh. The local party reportedly walked out of the meeting.[4][5]
Lightwood has presented himself as a local candidate.[6] Guido Fawkes reported that this is his fifth attempt to be elected MP.[7]
